Incarnate Essence
Resource
The Archons used an incomprehensible amount of magical energy to force themselves into the physical world. Their arrival on the dormant and unshaped Aperion was nothing short of cataclysmic. The residue left from their arrival is a prized reagent for the creation of many artifacts of power.

Where it comes from
Incarnate Essences only drop from Elite enemies and Midbosses. They are used to upgrade items at the Forge.
The game's own words, from the Resources screenCorroborated.
What it is spent on
| Where | Priced in | Amount |
|---|---|---|
Upgrading a ShardcraftingRuneUpgrade | 2 places | 10–20 |
Upgrading an itemcraftingUpgrade | 40 places | 1–60 |
What the drop tables grant
| Context | Rows | Amount each |
|---|---|---|
| A boosted character’s starting items | 1 | 100 |
| Dreamstone rewards | 20 | 1–20 |
| Mission rewards | 8 | 0–6 |
| Not named by the file | 7 | 1–6 |
These are the amounts a single grant is worth. Where each context fires — which activity, which enemy, how often — is UNKNOWN: the files name the context, not the place, and the drop trace has not been run for resources.
